Hello again

I know is has been a long time since my last post but a lot of things happened meanwhile. The Irish economy is in a free fall and this had a serious impact on everyone. The good side of this recession (if this can be called good) is that I have more time for photography. The weather had improved also and this allowed me to get out more often and take more photos. When I say improved I mean not raining non-stop but only for 16 hours. Lets not forget that we are talking about Ireland here. So..this being said I will restart this blog with a photo I took last weekend in Cobh.

Independence of the Seas

MS Independence of the Seas is a Freedom class cruise ship operated by the Royal Caribbean cruise line that entered service in April 2008. The 15-deck ship can accommodate 4,370 passengers served by 1,360 crew. She was built in the Aker Finnyards drydock in Turku, Finland, builder of Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas, her sister ships of the Freedom Class. At 154,407 gross tons,[4] she joined Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas as the largest cruise ships and passenger vessels ever built (at the time of construction). She is 1,112 feet (339m) long, and typically cruises at 21.6 knots (40 km/h). The vessel operates from Southampton, England,.[2] during the summer season, on European itineraries, and transfers to the Caribbean in the winter months.

Cobh Pirates vs Tralee

Despite all the effort in the second half, Cobh Pirates lost in front of Tralee with 24-25. It was a nice match with loads of opportunities on both sides.

Canon shows again its quality..yeah right!!

After a long list of problems including the notorious black dots, Canon shows again its "remarkable" built quality. After a two week photographic expedition in Antarctica during which a number of cameras have been used, Michael Reichmann from Luminous Landscape reports the list of failures. Surprise surprise, the winner of the Worst Built Camera is Canon.  Let us hear from the man:

"The top LCD on a 5D MKII spontaneously cracked; Another 5D MKII had a jambed on lens caused by a loose screw, a 1Ds MKIII reported intermittent problems; a 1D MKIII kept reporting Error 99; one Hasselblad reported electronic lens connection problems; two Canon G9's failed (no G10s had any reported problems), and a Nikon 80-400mm lens came apart. No Nikon bodies (mostly D700s) failed in any way."

WOW....I honestly do not think that any of the reported problems can be fixed with a firmware.

"I don't know what conclusions should be drawn from this high percentage of 5D MKII failures. All I can do is report on the facts of the matter. As for the weather during which most of the failures happened, it was no worse than a drizzly day in winter in New York or Berlin. Nothing Antarctic about it at all."

So basically the Canon 5D MKII and 1DMKIII, cameras that sell for more then the price of a kidney, where defeated by a little drizzle.

Evil laugh...and happy shooting.

Patrick Street, Cork, Ireland

St. Patrick's Street, affectionately called 'Pana' by older Corkonians, is the main shopping street in Cork and the heart of the city. Since its redevelopment in 2004, it has twice won the award as Ireland's best shopping street.

Modified Cars Show

These are few photos I took at a car show in Cork. Typical boy racer show and my Mercedes ML was probably the only car factory fitted. I am not sure about the two ladies bellow but they looked quite natural to me. :)_DSC2754 _DSC2866 _DSC2771
